Somatic-Movement Therapy

I practice Somatic-Movement Therapy through the approach of the Tamalpa Life-Art Process - a modality that draws on Gestalt therapy, performance art and dance-movement therapy. The fundamental principle of this approach is that we all have recurring patterns in our lives that we might want to shift, and that examining the recurring habits of our movement can help us identify what these patterns are. Stuck patterns can be symptoms of depression, unhealed relational trauma, fears keeping us from stepping out of our comfort zone, conventions keeping us from exploring our identity, and many other manifestations.

The work then involves movement exercises that release and shift these patterns, as well as creative exercises in drawing and writing, which crystallise what we learn from our movement explorations into tangible take-aways from the session.

The Tamalpa method is resource-oriented, which means that we focus on challenges the client faces in life, and identifying resources that might help create a shift in these challenges.

TREATMENT PARTICULARLY RECOMMENDED FOR CLIENTS:

- Who want to feel emotions more viscerally or with less overwhelm

- Who want to work on their relationship with their body

- With particular life-goals that are feeling stagnant and unmotivated
